The Iceland Trilogy - a photography exhibition by Alice Gur-Arie

An exhibition showcasing works from the Iceland Trilogy by photographer and artist Alice Gur-Arie, will open at the Embassy of Iceland on Thursday 13th June 2013.

Tapestry, 2012

The exhibition combines selected works from Iceland, Unsmiling Beauty, which first opened in London November 2012, The Circle Route, and Iceland, Now the Birds. Two series of works from Unsmiling Beauty - Drama in the Fog and Love on the Rocks - were nominated for a Terry O'Neill Tag Photography Award. Past exhibitions also include the Eye of the Beholder and Merlin's Forest.

Alice Gur-Arie was born in Toronto, Canada in 1954. She has lived and worked in North America, Europe the Middle East, Turkey and India and now resides in London.

Across the trilogy you will find cold tones, emphasizing isolation; rich, solid colours, communicating adventure and drama; dreamy pastels, conveying the sweet air and unrivalled light; and opulent neons, occasionally used to communicate the determined and resilient sense of life. The result of this broad palette is a sensory experience of Iceland that is true to the extremes of the land.

Alice says: "I strive to produce images that are powerful, thought provoking, and visually rich in texture and tone. I want the images to have an immediate impact and make a lasting impression - in your head and your heart - and compel further consideration".
