Cooperation on geothermal energy

The Ambassador met on 14 November with Mr. Anton Iniytscin, Deputy Minister for Energy, to to discuss the cooperation between Iceland and Russia in energy and ways in which it can be enhanced and further developed. The meeting was also attended by officials from RusHydro and the Russian Energy Agency. There are substantical geothermal resources in Russia, and Iceland has extensive expertise in this field based on decades of experience, both with regard to utilising geothermal energy for space heating and for the generation of electricity.
