Iceland happiest country in Europe

The European citizens are less happy now than 40 yrs ago, reports the survey which was published by the New Economics Foundation and Friends of the Earth. Indicators like the carbon efficiency, life expectancy and life satisfaction were used to determine the results.

The founder of the foundation’s Center for Well-Being, Nic Marks said, "Countries like Iceland clearly show that happiness doesn’t have to cost the earth. Iceland’s combination of strong social policies and extensive use of renewable energy demonstrates that living within our environmental means doesn’t mean sacrificing human well-being."

According to Guardian Unlimited, Iceland has its own sustainable energy source via the volcanic geology and the Icelandic government commits more resources to health than any other country in Europe.
