Iceland and India enter into cooperation on earthquake prediction research

The Memorandum foresees an increased cooperation between Icelandic and Indian scientist in the field or earthquake research, with the aim of being able to predict earthquakes.

In recent years, Icelandic geologist have developed a seismic system for the studies of anomalies ahead of earthquakes, which has received considerable praise internationally. The Indo-Icelandic earthquake prediction research is intended to strenghten this effort considerabely, for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, scientist from Iceland and India will start a so-called development phase, with mutual study visits, in which the parameters of the cooperation will be defined.
