Before Pétur Benediktsson was appointed Iceland's first Ambassador to Italy in 1949, there already existed Honorary Consulates in Genoa (1945), Napoli and Milano (1948).


Italian-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce was founded in Milano in September 2001.
