Inauguration of Harpa and the official lighting of the glass facade

Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference CentreAn exciting programme in Harpa on August 20th from 13 until midnight culminating in the lighting of the glass facade by artist Ólafur Elíasson thirty minutes before the firework display.

On August 20th a varied programme will take place at Harpa both outside and inside the building to celebrate its official inauguration. The festivities will start at 13.00 and continue until midnight. Among the programme highlights are an inauguraion concert on the second floor at 13.15 when two compositions for harp are premiered. Chinese acrobats will perform outside Harpa, the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra will perform in Eldborg main hall and the Reykjavík Jazz Festival will kick off in the evening. A number of events will also be held in Harpa in conjunction with Reykjavík Culture Night.

The Icelandic artworks inside Harpa can be viewed on special guided tours by the National Gallery of Iceland on August 20th and the home of Maximus Musicus the musical mouse will open for the youngest guests of the building at the 12 Tónar record store. The grand finale of the evening will be the official lighting of the glass facade thirty minutes before the Culture Night firework display at midnight.
