The Icelandic Sagas republished in Denmark

40 of the Sagas of Icelanders and 49 of the short tales of Icelanders were recently republished in Danish translation, in total 2500 pages in 5 books. The new version is being published by Saga Publishing House in Iceland in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish simultaneously.

On this occasion the Ambassador of Iceland in Copenhagen with the publishing house and others related to the project went on Wednesday to bring a copy of the new version to Margrét Þórhildur, the queen of Denmark.

There was an ancient tradition where Icelandic poets (skáld) went to the monarch to deliver them dedicated poems. Þórarinn Eldjárn, one of Iceland's craftiest poets, did the same for Margrét to celebrate the republishing of the Icelandic Sagas in Scandinavia.
