Roundtable event with the President of Iceland at the University of Copenhagen on 25 January 2017
The President of Iceland Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson visits Copenhagen on the 25th of January 2017 at 12.10-13.10 PM and will lead a roundtable discussion together with rector Ralf Hemmingsen and i.a. invited professors and researchers at the University of Copenhagen. The Crown Prince Couple will attend the roundtable.
The event will take place in the Ceremonial Hall at University of Copenhagen, and the theme will be: ’Nationalism, Populism and Globalization – Nordic Perspectives’:
First Brexit happens, then Trump gets elected. Are people standing up to the establishment? There seem to be a growing tension both within and between the nations in preference to globalization vs. self-sufficiency, inclusion vs. exclusion and the general public vs. the perceived ‘elite’. Is this divide more consequential and harder to reconcile than traditional left-right differences? What tools do national leaders have at their disposal to react and what is particularly interesting in a Nordic perspective?
The event is open to the public, but participation requires registration. Further information can be accessed via this link:
Please register before January the 18th 2017.
Due to security please be seated 11.45 AM, so that everybody is present by the time the president will arrive. Doors will close approximately 15 minutes before start. Entrance through the main staircase at the Ceremonial Hall, Vor Frue Plads, 1017 København K.
