Selma and Gunnar play at Beijing Unversity

Selma Guðmundsdóttir and Gunnar Kvaran, an Icelandic duet for piano and violincello, played in the Millennium Hall of Beijing University in the evening of Thursday 14 June. An estimate of 400 guests was in attendance and they filled a concert hall where the cultures and classical music of Iceland and China met for one evening. Among the concert guests were students, teachers and the general public who enjoyed a program of diverse repertoire, including Icelandic and Chinese folk songs. The concert was over two hours and the clapping became louder after each song. The duet played an encore after the celebration at the end of the concert. Afterwards, CDs with their music was offered for sale and the artists offered to sign them. The concert was the first on a two week tour of Selma and Gunnar around China where they will also visit Shanghai, Yangzhou and Hangzhou.
