Exhibition in Reykjavik: A view of two worlds

The Icelandic Chinese Culture Society is hosting an exhibition of the Icelandic Chinese artist Lu Hong in the City Hall of Reykjavik. The exhibition will opening will be tomorrow, Thursday 20 June at 16:00, and everyone is invited. The works will remain on display until 30 June 2013. The exhibition is held to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Society.

Lu Hong was born on 7 September 1957. From an early age she showed a talent for fine art. She studied under Shu Daoxin and in 1981 she was admitted to the China Academy of Fine Art (中央美术学 院 – Shongyang Meishu Xueyuan), specialising in Chinese landscape painting. After graduation she moved to Tokyo in 1989 to learn Japanese art and language where she held a solo exhibition in 1989. In 1990, she moved to Iceland and held her first exhibition of Icelandic landscapes portrayed in Chinese ink painting, which have been admired in Iceland ever since.
