The Canada - EFTA Free Trade Agreement promotional tour

First seminar of the road show is scheduled for February 23, in Toronto. Work is being done towards an implementation of the agreement by July 1, 2009. The agreement is considered a competitive advantage for Canada in EFTA markets and for EFTA into the Canadian market.

Canada and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries of Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein signed a free trade agreement on January 26, 2008. The successful implementation of Canada’s first ever FTA with European countries will benefit industries in all countries by eliminating or reducing duties on a range of merchandise exports, including agricultural products. It provides for the elimination or reduction of tariffs on selected Canadian agricultural and agri-food products.
