Minister of Trade visits Luxembourg and Brussels
This week the Icelandic Minister of Trade, Mr. Björgvin G. Sigurðsson, visited Brussels and Luxembourg. The Minister met Neelie Kroes, Commissioner for Competition matters, Meglena Kuneva, Commissioner for Consumers and Charlie McCreevy Commissioner for Internal Market and Services.
Commissioner Kroes accepted the Ministers offer to visit Iceland in July to participate in a conference on Competition Matters.
The Minister participated in a meeting on Consumer Policy. The Minister visited the EFTA secretariat and the EFTA Surveillance Authority and was introduced to the activities of the institutions. Furthermore the Minister visited the headquarters of the Icelandic Banks in Luxembourg.
The visited was concluded with an informal meeting hosted by the Icelandic Ambassador, Stefan H. Jóhannesson, with high level Officials and Experts in the field of currency issues.
