Iceland Geothermal ConferenceWhen
05.03.2013 - 08.03.2013 23:00
An international conference on geothermal will be held 5-8 March 2013 at Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavik, Iceland and is hosted by the Iceland Geothermal initiative.
The Icelandic Geothermal initiative has been forming since 2009. In 2010, Dr. Michael Porter and Dr. Christian Ketels conducted a study of mapping the Icelandic geothermal cluster. The results were that the strengths of the Icelandic cluster is how diversely the geothermal heat is utilized, highly experienced employees, well developed systems from multiple use of geothermal energy and strong reputation of Iceland geothermal knowledge. The members of the Icelandic cluster are 80 which consist of both private and public organizations, different service providers, associations and support institutions along with different educational institutions on all levels.
The aim of the conference is to share effective exploration methods, learn how to maximize the utilization of geothermal energy from veterans and explore ways to realize geothermal projects with less risk and higher profitability.
The conference will be held in the capital which is close in proximity to a region rich in geothermal. Therefore, participants will be offered to experience field trips to selected geothermal areas close to Reykjavik as part of the program.
