How Do Little Frogs Fly? Small States in the International System

As part of Taste of Iceland in New York,
the Icelandic American Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate General of Iceland in New York invites you to a lecture lead by Professor Baldur Thorhallsson, 'Class of 1955' Visiting Professor of International Studies at Williams College, Massachusetts, at the Consulate General of Iceland in New York on October 4th. The focus of the lecture will be on the role of small states in the international system.  Topics to be discussed will include: Vulnerability of Small States, Domestic Arrangement & Democratic Corporatism, External Arrangement & Alliance Formation, and a discussion regarding how small states can become proactive.
 
The lecture takes place on Friday, October 4th from 4-5PM, followed by an hour networking session. 
 
Baldur Thorhallsson is a Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair in European Studies at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Iceland. His research focus is primarily on small state studies, European integration and Iceland’s domestic and foreign policy. Professor Thorhallsson has published extensively in international journals and has contributed to several academic books.  In addition, he's written two books on small states in Europe: Iceland and European integration: On the Edge and The Role of Small States in the European Union. He holds a PhD (1999) and MA (1994) in Political Science from the University of Essex in England and in 2002, he established a Centre for Small State Studies at the University of Iceland in association with colleagues around the globe and re-established the Icelandic Institute of International Affairs. Professor Thorhallson was also Chair of the Board of the Institute of International Affairs and Centre for Small State Studies until 2011 and is currently a member of the Board."
