Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Engaged with Iceland

Mrs. Katrín Júlíusdóttir the Icelandic Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Mr. Þórður H. Hilmarsson, Director, Invest in Iceland and Mr. Jón Ólafur Ólafsson from Batteriid Architects presented to a full house of business people at the World Trade Center in Edmonton on Friday morning, April 29. Mr. Ken Barry, Vice-Chair, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors welcomed guests and handed the control over to the meetings chair Mr. Gordon J. Reykdal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Cash Store Financial and Chairman of the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

During and after the meeting in "One on One" sessions Edmonton businesses got an opportunity to learn about Iceland, the island nation in the North Atlantic that is the ancestral home to over 300 Edmontonians. Over 70 people engaged in discussions about investing in Iceland, doing business in and trade with Iceland and presenters provided insight into what Iceland can offer Alberta businesses.

The meeting was organized by the Consulate General of Iceland in New York, Invest in Iceland and the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and World Trade Center in Edmonton.
