"Fresh or Frozen Fresh - Sourcing from Iceland" Seafood Event in Canada

The Consulate General of Iceland in New York, North America Trade Commission in co-operation with the Icelandic Embassy in Canada and Promote Iceland have organized a seafood trade event at the The Drake Hotel in Toronto on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 3–5 p.m.   At the event buyers from Canada will meet with seafood harvesters from Iceland, manufacturers, distributors and logistic companies.

Following the trade event the Ambassador of Iceland to Canada Mr. Thordur Aegir Oskarsson will host a reception for a taste of exquisite Icelandic cuisine by Bocuse d’Or and World Culinary Cup Winner, Chef Hakon Mar Orvarsson.

Chef Hákon Már Örvarsson
Trained at the Iceland Hotel School, Chef Hákon began his career at the Holt Hotel in Reykjavik, part of the luxury Relais & Châteaux chain, before leaving to train for the Bocuse d’Or. Chef Hákon also served as Chef de Cuisine at the Michelin star restaurant, Lea Linster Luxembourg. Chef Hákon promotes Icelandic fish and runs two of the finest salmon fishing lodges in Iceland. He also makes frequent guest chef appearances in Canada, the United States and Europe, and acts as a part-time teacher at the Culinary Institute of Iceland.
