The EFTA Court ruling on Icesave rejected all claims by the EFTA Surveillance Authority that Iceland should be declared in breach of the EEA Agreement. The Court rejected the claim that Iceland has breached the Deposit Guarantee Directive or has discriminated against depositors contrary to EEA law. It is a considerable satisfaction that Iceland´s defence has won the day in the Icesave case; the EFTA Court ruling brings to a close an important stage in a long saga.

Nordic Jazz 2012: Five Countries, Eight Concerts This Summer During the 6th Annual Festival from June 22-30 in Washington, DC

The event, held in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State and the Icelandic Embassy in Washington, DC, will celebrate 70 successful years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Iceland. It will feature speakers covering a range of topics, from the most promising investment sectors to Iceland's competitive energy costs, to responsible fisheries to tourism.

On Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012, representatives from the embassies of 10 countries will share the Abramson Recital Hall at the American University Katzen Center to read poetry from their countries for the 2012 Small Nations Poetry Reading.

The Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science and Culture awards annually a number of scholarships to foreign students for study of the Icelandic language, literature and history at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík.
