Art exhibition 'Cairns' by Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir opens in Hull
'Cairns', an exhibition of life size sculptures, will form a trail around the campus of University of Hull honouring the historic connection between Hull and Iceland.
Cairns are a common sight in Iceland and were used as landmarks for people to find their way from one place to another. The exhibition is an oberservation about the human being's quest to find right place in the world and his resilience to face his destiny. The sculptures take on the form of human trail markers, guiding visitors around specific areas and main routs stimulating thought and reflection. Each sculpture leads to the next one and helps visitors to find their way.
The exhibition is supported by the Embassy of Iceland in London and will be opened by the Ambassador of Iceland, H.E. Thórdur Aegir Óskarsson and the artist, Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir.
