Two Icelandic Films at London Film Festival
Two Icelandic Films are featured at the 55th BFI London Film Festival 12 to 27 October this year. The films are Undercurrent (Brim 2010) and the Icelandic/Danish film Volcano (Eldfjall 2011).
Undercurrent (director Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson) is set mainly on a decaying Icelandic fishing trawler where the crew has to come to terms with the untimely death of a crew member. The film stars Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, Gísli Örn Garðarsson and Ólafur Egill Egilsson.

Volcano (director Rúnar Rúnarsson) centers around a newly retired Hannes (Theódór Júlíusson) who struggles to find a place in, and a meaning to, his new life. However, when his wife's health dramatically fails, Hannes finds his purposefulness reignited. The film stars Theódór Júlíusson, Margrét Helga Jóhannsdóttir, Elma Lísa Gunnarsdóttir and Thorsteinn Bachmann.
