Sigríður Ósk Kristjánsdóttir in MITRIDATE, RE DI PONTO world premiere staging of Mozart's 'original' version

2 June 2009, Sadler’s Wells

12, 20, 24 July 2009, Buxton Festival

The Classical Opera Company's Mitridate reinstates Mozart's eight original settings that his cast - suspicious of the fourteen-year-old’s prodigious gifts – forced him to jettison. The eternal tensions of infatuated love, filial duty and the lust for power are played out in an astonishing score of stunning insight and beauty. Cast includes Sigríður Ósk Kristjánsdóttir, Kishani Jayasinghe, Allison Bell, Stephen Wallace and Mark Le Brocq, and the production will be directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans and conducted by Ian Page with his period-instrument orchestra.
