Icelandic Independence Day Celebrations

Hátíd 1. desember

Íslendingafélagid heldur fullveldisdaginn hátídlegan med samkomu í Sendirádi Íslands, laugardaginn 2. desember. Dagskrá hefst klukkan 16:00 med ávarpi Sverris Hauks Gunnlaugssonar, sendiherra Íslands á Bretlandseyjum. I kjölfar kynningar og opnun nýrrar heimasíðu Íslendingafelgsings, www.ifelag.co.uk, hefst dagskrá sem samanstendur af flutningi verka leikskálds, kvikmyndagerðarfólks og söngvara.

 

Dagskrá:

  • Vala Tórsdóttir leikskáld les upp úr leikgerd sinni Eldhús eftir máli – venjulegarhryllingssögur, unnin upp úr smásögum eftir Svövu Jakobsdóttur
  • Íslenski kórinn í London flytur tónlist undir stjórn Gísla Magnasonar.
  • Synd verdur stuttmyndin Slap eftir leikstjóra- og leikkonuteymid Uriel Emil og Ragnheidi Gudmundsdóttur.
  • Synd verdur stuttmyndin Töframadurinn eftir Veru Júlíusdóttur kvikmyndagerdarkonu, verk byggt á smásögu eftir Jón Atla Jónasson.
  • Sólveig Simha flytur lagid Epitonic eftir Audible vid myndsetningarverkid Thule eftir Stefan Asonovic.

Í lok dagskrár bjóda Sendirádid og Íslendingafélagid upp á léttar veitingar. Tekid skal fram ad dagskráin fer fram á ensku og íslensku. Allir velkomnir.

Independence Day

The Icelandic Society celebrates the Icelandic Independence Day at the Icelandic Embassy on Saturday 2nd December. The programme commences at 4pm with a welcoming address from Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaugsson the Icelandic Ambassador in the UK. Following the introduction of the new website for the Icelandic Society www.ifelag.co.uk, the programme proceeds with presentations of work by a playwright, filmmakers and musicians.

 

Programme:

  • Vala Tórsdóttir playwright reads from her play Kitchen to Measure - Ordinary Horrorstories, based on Svava Jakobsdottir´s short stories.
  • The Icelandic choir performs, conducted by Gísli Magnason.
  • Viewing of the short film Slap by Ragnheidur Gudmundsdóttir and Uriel Emil actress/director team.
  • Viewing of the short film The Magician by Vera Júlíusdóttir filmmaker.
  • Sólveig Simha actress performs the song Epitonic by Audible to Thule, a film installation project by Stefan Asanovic.

After the programme the Embassy and the Icelandic Society will provide light refreshments. The programme will be predominately in English. Everyone is welcome.
