Iceland seminar at Mansion House

On 31 October, the Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Roger Gifford, and Ambassador Jónsson co-hosted a seminar at Mansion House titled "Iceland: Five years after the perfect economic storm".






















Cyrus Ardalan of Barclays Bank with Mar Gudmundsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, Höskuldur Ólafsson, CEO of Arion Bank, Steinþór Pálsson, CEO of Landsbankinn and Birna Einarsdóttir, CEO of Islandsbanki.


The seminar's  purpose was to discuss and examine how Iceland responded to the crisis, where its economy stands five years after the "perfect economic storm", and possible future opportunities. The president of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, gave his insights on Iceland's road to recovery, while Már Gudmundsson, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, discussed Iceland's financial reconstruction and current policy challenges. 

The vice chairman of Barclays, Cyrus Ardalan, discussed Iceland's return to the capital markets and moderated a panel discussion thereafter with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland and the CEOs of the three major Icelandic banks; Íslandsbanki, Arion Bank and Landsbankinn.
