Hafdís Huld: New Album + Preview Gigs

Pictured: Hafdís HuldFollowing the critical and commercial success of her debut album 'Dirty Paper Cup', pop supremo Hafdís Huld has been busy writing and recording her second record with an impressive line-up of collaborators and musicians.

Hafdírs wanted somewhere cold and snowy to make her feel at home whilst recording. She chose an isolated studio in North Yorkshire and was apparently delighted when the icy north wind meant everyone needed hats and gloves inside the studio. She also had some chickens to keep her company.

Hafdís has called in rhythm-section 'A'-listers Martyn Barker (Nick Cave, Billy Bragg, Bryan Ferry, Will Gregory of Goldfrapp) and Simon Edwards (Talk Talk, Fairground Attraction, Beth Gibbons), plus co-producers Calum MacColl (Rokia Traore, Christy Moore, Backstreet Boys), Alisdair Wright (you've seen him play in Hafdís's live band) and legendary recording engineer Phill Brown, who's recorded some of the most enduring albums of the last 30 years with artists including Bob Marley, Robert Plant and Robert Palmer.

The first single from the new album is expected in April. In the meantime, Hafdís will be playing some new songs live for the first time at the following shows:

Feb 7th – Nordsklang Festival, Switzerland
Feb 25th – The Cellars, Eastney, Hampshire
March 11th – The Slaughtered Lamb (Electro Acoustic Club), London
