Free concert- Graduale Nobili performs in London
The Icelandic female choir Graduale Nobili will visit London this week and hold a concert on Saturday 6 April 2013. Led by conductor Jón Stefánsson, the choir was formed in autumn 2000 in Langholtskirkja in Reykjavik and consists of 24 women aged 18-24.
Graduale Nobili has won numerous awards and was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2011 for best classical CD and best classical performer. The choir collaborated with Björk on her album and musical project Biophilia from September 2010 - February 2011 and have been part of her world tour.
On Saturday, the choir will perform traditional and contemporary works by Icelandic composers Atli Heimir Sveinsson, Bára Grímsdóttir and Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir. Other works, performed in latin, include Salve Regina, Regina Angelorum and Ave Maria by Christoper Field and Ave Maria by Gustav Holst.
