Changes to passport validity
On 19 December 2012 the Icelandic Althingi agreed to amend Act no. 136/1998 on Passports. Taking effect on 1 March 2013, Icelandic passports issued to adults will be valid for 10 years. The validity of passports issued for children under the age of 18 years will remain five years.
Passport applications made before 1 March 2013 will not be covered by the amended Act. Therefore, the Embassy encourages prospective applicants to book an appointment, if possible, on or after 1 March 2013 should they wish to be issued a passport valid for 10 years. For further information, please contact the Embassy on tel. 0207 259 3999 or on e-mail email@example.com.
