Icelandair Starts Flying to San Francisco

On May 18th, Icelandair flew its first flight from Keflavík International Airport in Iceland to San Francisco, constituting Icelandairs´ first west coast destination. On board during the maiden voyage was Iceland’s Prime Minister Halldór Ásgrímsson and several other dignitaries who visited San Francisco on this occasion.

Icelandair has stated that this is a test project that will run until October of this year and that they are eying the option of flying onward to Asia in the future. The flight from Keflavík to San Francisco takes only 9 hours in the Iceland Air Boeing 767.
