Visit to Murmansk

Ambassador Jónsson visited Murmansk on 2-4 May to be present at the opening of an Icelandic-Russian company, Murmansk Apama. At its factory, which is highly technologized, fish heads and various fish discards will be dried for export to Nigeria. During his vist, the Ambassador met with the Governor of Murmansk Region, the Mayor of the City of Murmansk and with Iceland´s Honorary Consul, Mr. Vitaly Kasatkin. The Ambassador also toured the Naval History Museum to see displays about the Arctic Convoys which sailed from Iceland to Northern Russia during World War II.
