Kjarval exhibition in St. Petersburg
The President of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, has today opened an exhibition of the works Jóhannes Kjarval at the Marble Palace of the Russian State museum in St. Petersburg. The exhibition will run from the 26th September till the 4th of November. The exhibition features the works of the most famous Icelandic painter of the 20th century it is also devoted to 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iceland and Russia. Icelandic musicians Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir and Jónas Ingimundarson preformed classic Icelandic musical compositions. The exhibition is a joint project of the Reykjavík Art Museum and Russian State Museum.
