Icelandic Russian bilateral trade talks were held in Reykjavik this week. Up for discussion were matters related to tourism, meat and fish exports, telecommunication, investment opportunities and energy projects. All these and other issues will be followed up by the countries embassies in Moscow and Reykjavík in cooperation with the private sector actors that instigate them.
Russia is Iceland’s 7th largest export market, with sales worth in excess of 24 billion Iskr. In addition the service sector exports total in excess of 6 billion Iskr. and the number of tourist from Russia increased by 53% between 2012 and 2013. Iceland imports oil, industrial goods and services from Russia worth around 5 billion Iskr.
