The Embassy of Iceland in Japan is seeking a Commercial and Communications Officer (商務・広報担当) for a fixed term contract, starting 1 March 2018. This is a full-time position under the supervision of the Embassy´s Trade Representative, with a focus on commercial activities, but will also support the Embassy´s communications, promotional, administrative and other efforts.

The areas of work include:

-Support the Embassy´s commercial work; liaising with Japanese and Icelandic companies

-Support the Embassy´s information and promotional work, including copywriting, translation, interpretation, digital communications, social media and printed material

-Provide support for other sections at the Embassy; including administrative, incoming emails, phone calls, faxes and letters

-Otherwise assist the Embassy in other areas as needed

-Cooperate with and support the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce in Japan

-Limited overseas and domestic travel

Previous experience and qualifications:

-An academic degree

-Relevant work experience

-Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple contacts in Iceland and Japan

-Language skills: fluency in both Japanese and English is required. Good communication skills are required.

-Knowledge about Japanese business environment

-Knowledge about Icelandic business is a plus

-Good working knowledge of common digital communications platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft Office)

This is a fixed term contract with the embassy for one year, with the possibility of extension. Salary is negotiable; 300,000 - 500,000 per month, commensurate with experience. Embassy working hours are weekdays from 09.00 – 17.00. Commuting expenses will be paid and social insurance is applicable.
