Iceland welcomes acquittal in Icesave case
The EFTA Court ruling on Icesave rejected all claims by the EFTA Surveillance Authority that Iceland should be declared in breach of the EEA Agreement. The Court rejected the claim that Iceland has breached the Deposit Guarantee Directive or has discriminated against depositors contrary to EEA law. It is a considerable satisfaction that Iceland´s defence has won the day in the Icesave case; the EFTA Court ruling brings to a close an important stage in a long saga.

The Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament,H.E Ms.Asta R.Johannesdottir along with a Parliamentary delegation visited India from 20-27 November,2012.
In Delhi,she was received by the President of India, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of Shipping, Minister of Culture, Minister of New & Renewable Energy and other dignitaries.
In Chennai and Mumbai,the Speaker was received by the Governor,Speaker of the Legislative Assemblies, Honorary Consul Generals of Iceland and other dignitaries.Furthermore in Chennai,she inaugurated the new Consulate General of Iceland.
In Mumbai,the Speaker chaired a "Commemorative Event" against the terrorist attack in 2008.

A new Cabinet was unveiled in Iceland on 31 December. During the reshuffle former finance minister Mr Steingrímur J. Sigfússon was named Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture as well as Minister of Economic Affairs. Mrs Oddný G. Harðardóttur was promoted into Cabinet as Minister of Finance. Mr Jón Bjarnason, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, and Mr Árni Páll Árnason, Minister of Economic Affairs, stepped down from the Cabinet. Other ministers retained their posts.

Iceland completes IMF Programme
The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed and approved on Friday the sixth and final review of Iceland's Economic Recovery Programme, supported by a Stand-By Arrangement, making the country the first to complete such a program following the international financial recession. Grímsvötn Eruption is Over
The Department of Civil Protection has abated emergency levels to normal. Volcanologist Steinunn Jakobsdóttir at the University of Iceland, told AFP News, that no volcanic activity has been detected since 28 May.
