Reykjavík's Ensemble in Copenhagen
Chamber ensemble Nordic Affect makes an appearance in Copenhagen next Monday. The ensemble was appointed earlier this year as Reykjavík's Ensemble of 2014 and selected as Performer of the Year at last Iceland Music Award. The concert which is part of Nordic Affect's European tour is organised by Copenhagen Renaissance Festival and Early Monday and takes place at Literaturhaus in Copenhagen.
The event features what has become the ensemble's trademark; the mixing of new cutting edge compositions with the music of the 17th and 18th century. Nordic Affect's concert is titled 'Shades of Silence' and features some of the ensemble's most recent commissions by Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Hugi Gudmundsson, Maria Huld Markan Sigfusdottir and Hlynur Adils Vilmarsson.
The commissions will be entwined with baroque music by Leclair, Couperin, Handel and Bach which puts the concept of past and present in an interesting light and thus creates an intriguing and exciting listening experience for the audience. Further information about the ensemble can be found at www.nordicaffect.com. The concert on the 3rd of Novembers begins at 20.00.
