Crazy Iceland kaffiboð: artist talk, pancake performance, and the future of label stores - am 5. Juli
You are cordially invited to a "kaffiboð" which is a traditional family style coffee drinking gathering, together with some of the most inspiring Icelandic artists and people from the creative scene in Iceland.
Iceland, a seemingly quiet, out-of-the-way country has in relation to its small population one of the highest concentration of artists, painters, writers and musicians in the world. Many think it is somewhat crazy how many internationally successful artists this little country has recently produced. Nabil Atassi, an award-winning journalist with special connection to Iceland, will try to find out the reason why. What are the sources of inspiration for these creative people? What exactly shapes the dark and often excentric musicians, who so often find their way to the hearts of the world’s music lovers?
Nabil and his guests will embed their talk into some samples of creativity, a short film premiering by 12 Tónar record store, another film by Mundi Vondi, Bakery performance of flying pancakes by Egill Sæbjörnsson, live experimental-electronic sets of three DJs, Skurken, Steve Sampling and Ruxpin, and much more.
