Icelandic Travel companies at CITM

China International Travel Mart, one of the biggest tourism trade shows in China, will be held in Shanghai from November 15-18 of this year. Four Icelandic companies will gather for a common stand to introduce the Icelandic tourism industry. The companies are Icelandair, Iceland Travel, Iceland Excursions/Grayline and Hotels of Iceland. Their participation is facilitated by the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing and Promote Iceland in Reykjavik.

The number of Chinese tourists to Iceland is increasing year by year. According to numbers taken by the Icelandic Tourist Board the total number of Chinese visitors to Iceland is expected to be in excess of 13 thousand. That represents a 50 per cent increase over the year 2011 when about 9 thousand Chinese tourists visited Iceland, which in turn was a 70 per cent increase as compared to the year before.

CITM is held every second year in Shanghai while the show travels to Kunming in Yunnan Province every other year. This year’s exhibition will be held in the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre in Pudong New District, an economic, financial and industrial zone on the East banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai.
