H.E. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland visited China may 16-22

The President of Iceland H.E. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson visited China may 16-22 at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao. This was Grimsson's first China visit after he took office as president in August 1996. Accompanying him on the visit are more than 200 representatives of 106 Icelandic companies and 10 journalists.
The President visited Beijing for 3 days where he had official talks with President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao and Wang Zhaogou Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC. After his talk with President Hu Jintao in the Great Hall of the People the two presidents were present at the signing ceremony of four agreements on environmental protection, earthquake research, aviation and telecommunication respectively.
Olafur Ragnar Grimsson also made a speech at a Business Seminar held by the Icelandic Trade Council at the Kempinski Hotel on May 18 and addressed students at the University of Beijing.
Grimsson said his trip to China yielded positive fruits and Iceland is confident and will further strive to push forward relations with China.
Besides Beijing, the 62-year-old president also visited Shanghai, China's economic hub, and Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province.
