Fifth round of free trade talks between Iceland and China concluded
The fifth round of negotiations on a free trade agreement between Iceland and China took place in Reykjavik on 18-20 December 2012. An important progress was made during the round and both parties are optimistic that the negotiations can be concluded in early 2013.
China is an important and fast growing market for Icelandic products and services and the primary goal of the free trade agreement is to ensure Icelandic export interests in that market.
The chief negotiator for Iceland in the negotiations is Ambassador Bergdís Ellertsdóttir while Mr. Sun Yuanjiang, Deputy Director General of International Trade and Economic Affairs, led the Chinese delegation.
