Embassy monitors the situation in Japan

A severe earthquake occurred in the North East of Japan on 11 March, at approximately 14:45 local time. As a result of the earthquake several nuclear facilities were damaged.

To keep abreast of the latest information on the nuclear situation we recommend monitoring developments through the media and statements issued by official authorities concerned. The Icelandic embassy in China is also continuously monitoring the situation.

In the case that the People's Republic of China should also be affected you will be able to find travel and security advice by accessing the foreign ministry websites: http://www.utanrikisraduneyti.is/

It is recommended to Icelandic citizens in China to stay in touch with the embassy.
