President Grímsson visits Canada

H.E. Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland, visited Canada during 8-12 June and travelled to three cities; Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. In Ottawa he addressed a breakfast-meeting organized by the Embassy of Iceland and the Centre for Governance Innovation, met with Ms. Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Arctic Affairs, had lunch at the invitation of the Governor-General of Canada at his residence, Rideau Hall, was recognized in the Senate and House of Commons and met with the Speaker of the latter, and attended a reception given by the Ambassador of Iceland for members of the Friends of Iceland. In Montreal, he participated in the annual Conference of Montreal. In Toronto, he gave an address at the Munk School of Global Affairs, had lunch at the invitation of the Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto and was present at the meeting of the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
