Nordic Architecture on Tour - Sweden
5th lecture “Built into Nature“ - In partnership with Stad en Architectuur
The fifth lecture in the series is on Sweden and its Naturum centres. These visitors’ centres with activities and exhibitions are located in connection with several of the country’s national parks and nature reserves. The Naturum centres are also gateways to biosphere areas and world heritage sites. This is architecture with the Swedish nature as a client. The centres are designed to underline the connection between people and nature. The buildings are characterized by natural Nordic materials.
Architect Peter Hallén will present the Naturum network and its notable architectural solutions. He will also discuss the idea of objectifying our view upon nature and his predictions on future developments in architecture in nature.
This lecture is organised in collaboration with Leuven-based architectural organisation Stad en Architectuur.
