Enlargement on track
The 3rd EU - Iceland Accession conference took place 12.12.2011. The European Union delegation was headed by Maciej Szpunar, Under-Secretary of State for legal and treaty affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland while Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Štefan Füle, represented the European Commission. The Icelandic delegation was led by Össur Skarphéðinsson, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
At the conference, negotiations on Chapter 6 - Company Law, Chapter 20 - Enterprise and Industrial Policy, Chapter 21 - Trans-European Networks and Chapter 23- Judiciary and Fundamental Rights were opened and provisionally closed and negotiations on Chapter 33 - Financial and Budgetary Provisions were opened.
Eleven chapters have been opened since the first Accession conference last June and eight of those are provisionally closed.
