“The Deep” at the Brussels Film Festival
The Icelandic film “The Deep” will be screened at the Brussels Film festival on 22.06. The film tells of real life events that took place on the night of 11. March 1984 where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson swam to shore following the sinking of the fishing boat Hellisey VE503 of the south coast of Iceland. The story of the heroic yet tragic event gives a glimpse into the life of fishermen and the perils they face every day and man’s struggle with internal and external forces of nature.
