Skaftafell National Park, Austur-Skaftafellssysla District

Skaftafell national park is situated at the foot of Skaftajökull, one of 46 outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull glacier. Skaftafell is a wooded area surrounded by expanses of sand desert deposited by glacial rivers.
